This is absurd... an egg prata or plaster costs 20 to 30 cents more now just because the prices of eggs have increased by a few cents... bloody hell, this is a total cut throat man... you can slap me senseless with all the pratas but I won't budge an inch on it...

No... I'm kidding of cos'... why would I ever wanna deprive myself of such deliciously sinful treats?! What is supper without pratas you tell me?! Ask me don't eat pratas? You siao ah??!

Anyway, I'm listening to brit pop's latest offering... KEANE... smashin' stuff I say... their album rocks, whether they can continue their success and be placed among the ranks of bands such as oasis and blur, it remains to be seen... but I'm optimistic...

WOMAD 2004 SINGAPORE, Fort Canning
Sat 28th August 2004

Striking a pose in front of the stage after the crowd has dispersed...

The saturday afternoon was spent doing assignments in school... boorrinng... but things got more interesting come evening, where I'm headed to Fort Canning for the WOMAD festival 2004 with my budds, Jz, bob and his gf... I parked my beloved phantom at Jz's house and took his car to town cos' it just don't make any sense not to sit in an air conditioned car while negotiating down the busy roads in the city area... especially with all the fumes coming out of the exhausts... and stinking your clothes!!!!

We got down to carrefour and bought much shit to share while sitting down to enjoy the music... So there we were sprawled out on the green on an army ground sheet and having a picnic of sorts... This was the first time I attended a 'live' performance proper and I must say the atmosphere and the energy of the whole place was stirring... music was ok, to be frank, maybe I came on a wrong day... just not my type lah, save for Zap Mama, this singing african trio from brussels... they really work the crowd up consisting mainly of ang moh expatriates and their ahem! fast maturing and well endowed 'kids'... hahaha... awesommee...

I also met Zhaoru, Jamie, Charlene and Kennie - my school mates from SIM working as barmaids at the WOMAD festival... Me thinks theirs a pretty cool way to kill the weekends, earn some money and at the same time, enjoy the music!!! wicked, aiighht...

I had a greeatt time there and it certainly won't be the last time for me...

WOMAD 2005 here i come!!!

Sometimes, taking a bus again brings memories of my pre-riding days back... Hey! what am I talking about here? It was only last friday when I first sat my fat ass on the phantom... hahaha... Taking public transport has its perks too, I miss playing visual hide-and-seek with chica bonitas and occasionally glancing at the pretty girl through the corner of my eye... cheap thrills eh? hahaha... But now? No more... What i got in exchange was extra sleep time and the freedom to go anywhere (yes, ANYWHERE) and everywhere i please... that is IF I get my directions right...

Meanwhile, my bike sits in the workshop for more finetuning as I don't want my bike to die on me on the expressway... it won't look pretty i think... heh... Just yesterday, my engine stalled while I was waiting to turn at a traffic junction. All thanks to my clutch and its weak biting point... always seem to flutter and tutter whenever I'm moving off... hope to see it corrected when I get back my bike tomorrow...

And there's this thing about kick start bikes, they won't start straight away when you kick again... not like electric starter bikes... Before you know it, bloody impatient and irritated singaporean drivers are already honking the shit outta you, confirm kancheong one I tell you... cos' I've already experienced myself... (-_-")

Something to share with you peeps... this clip my friend sent me...
Guys, I think you'll be friggin' amused... Ladies, advance at your own peril... hahahaha...

I find it very irritating when people whip out their handphones and begin sms-ing right under the lecturer's nose... bloody no respect for people... if die die must message, at least do it under the table or what lah... what of all places in front of the lecturer somemore... these people either got no bloody brains or don't give a shit to what's happening around them... they need social etiquette lessons, i repeat, they need social etiquette lessons...

I have a responsibility towards my parents and my dearest friends around me. I pledge myself to be a safe rider, to obey all traffic rules and not be a reckless rider. I treasure the freedom that comes with riding but i treasure my life and the people around me even more...

Here it is, my very first bike... the Phantom TA150...

Woke up extra early at 5 plus in the morning cos' i need to get down to SIM management house for the National Management Competition Qualifying round at 0730 hr... didn't hear about the competition before, much less intend to join it, but it was my camp mate and now fellow classmate, zhengyi who asked me to join his team of, i must say, very proactive and vocal people who left me with more than impressed at the end of the event... here you have people who throws up ideas ever so enthusiastically and left me wondering what the hell was i doing there in the first place at all. I kinda felt like a free rider... most of the time i would be listening to what they have to say instead of contributing to the discussion, and whatever i said were mere logic... i don't feel good about myself at all... especially in discussions where i spoke too little for the likes of myself, somehow i feel i need to do something to affirm my existence, lest i find myself becoming a leech... which i deeply detest people of such... Blame it on the numbers and the orgy of information on those cursed balance sheets... just not my cup of tea, and the reason why i chose marketing as my major... blame it too on my attitude towards the whole thing as just another simulation game... Or then again, there can never be too many indian chiefs in a team... i don't know, maybe it's just a lame excuse for my incapacity... Kinda felt let down by my performance and towards zhengyi... he must have seen something in me that justifies his choice in asking me to join his team, then i was so bloody quiet throughout the whole competition... but then again i might be wrong about his reason for doing so... hahahaha... whatever it might be, i recognise his eye for talented people (ahem...) and appreciate his efforts greatly... and i look forward to the next time we could work together again...

Congrats to him for finally enduring through those tough times and let the good (read:slack) times roll man... hahaha... must respect da man lah, he wanted out initially but now came through in one piece... I want to go through the shit also cannot man, my country don't want me leh... looking at the no.1 he's wearing, i can't help but feel envious... heh... So there you have it, an officer finally... among the ranks of specialists in CQ, NCC instructor, admin and me the often ridiculed RP corporal (for the last time, i'm a bloody infantryman)... Yeah yeah laugh your asses off, you know who you are... hahaha...

Muahahaha... Channel i's Durian King is damn funny man. Imagine Adrian Pang speaking Queen's english to the rest of the motley crew of cast whose shady stereotyped characters they play could be found hanging around in geylang... Then, the joker himself can be seen messing around with a nunchaku and he ends up bruising his arms instead, kinda like my idol 星哥's slapstick comedies... wahahaha... In the episode i've just seen, benjamin heng from the low profile local movie "Eating Air" takes 關二哥's 青龍刀 and swings it like a deranged idiot at traffic junctions near lavender and food courts at bugis village... HAHAHAHA... Kym Ng also add to the "kee-siao"ness of the whole show by singing offkey whenever she opened her mouth, complete with 2 equally chao ah lian-nish side kicks... Man, what more could you ask for in a comedy??! Go watch lah, guarantee laugh like siao... 包吃啦... pao jiak... bo ho jiak heng ler lui... hehehe... Yah, neber tell u all de time... every friday channel i at 9:30pm... must watch hor...

The most successful platoon outing ever... almost half the platoon turned up for a simple get together over dinner at suntec and after that chillin' out at starbucks millenia walk... We've had much to catch up on since the last time we saw one another, and our NS life at PLAB was vividly brought back to life when we shared the endless stories we've heard and experiences we've encountered there... yeah, it was nice to see these guys again... and i'm proud to have serve the country with them... salut!!! hehe...

                           BROTHERHOOD 兄弟

Taegukgi is a war movie which speaks of brotherhood in a light you would've never imagined... Of the blood that were spilled in the war holds valuable lessons in life we could learn from... the idea of brotherhood goes beyond what chao ah bengs profess to uphold when their brudders are kenna 'hood' by other street hoodlums... No, it does not involve chasing rival gangs with parang knives or machetes either... Brotherhood here is defined by the ultimate act of selflessness to ensure your brother lives to see the sun rise another day while more often than not, ending your life...

I'm not telling you guys to lay down your lives for your blood brother or 'brudders' this very minute but wouldn't it be better to give than to take in the little things we do everyday? I don't know about you guys, but nothing makes my day more than to see the people around me happy, even if it inconveniences me greatly... For that, i've always been an easy going guy who goes along with the majority, not that i don't have an opinion of my own, but i'd rather forsake my own interests to go with the rest... So, the next time your brother asks to use this computer of yours while you're busy playing gunbound... let him... unless of cause you have a sister like mine... don't need to ask any questions, slap her first then talk... hahaha... joking lah...

Anyway, i feel like giving more endorsement to the movie... i don't think i have done enough justice to its realistic protrayal of the Korean War fought between the same race of people backed by 2 very different ideologies. The movie explores brotherhood on various fronts… that of the blood brothers, the next of soldiers-in-arms on a battlefield, and lastly between that of your fellow countrymen… If there is anything that we already know, war only brings pain and grief to people. The Korean War is different from the World Wars because in the latter, it was justified in order to liberate the oppressed from the tyrants. But the Korean War was nothing of that sort… the conflict arise because of ideological differences between their OWN people… Imagine going to war with Malaysia where many of us still maintain regular ties with relatives over there, would you kill just because your country tells you to? This is the dilemma Koreans are facing even up till today… absurd ain’t it?

The movie’s final scene made me shed a tear or two… this brother grieving over the remains of his elder brother and chiding him for not fulfilling his promise to make it back home alive… my utmost respect to people like him… they died so that others may live… How many people can actually do that? I dare say I would gladly do it for the people close to me in my life… self sacrifice in times of war is not hard a decision for me to make, the only question is: What are you dying for?

Here's another one... abstract art... abstract art.... hmmm... don't really understand leh... maybe that's the whole friggin' point? each individual has his/her own way of perceiving the physical world around us, so it's not surprising folks like us don't know no shit about their works of art... after all, abstract art's all about self expression, right?

And yeah, my friend and i would greatly appreciate it if you could post your comments here... come on, don't be shy... comments please!!! and please dun write negative things about my friend's work... he very fragile one... don't shatter his confidence so early... save the 'best' for the last yeah? hahahaha... joking man... relac lah... any comments would be welcomed... honesty pays peeps...

Ahh... my blog is being exploited here... some aspiring nude photographer friend of mine wants to put his pics up for you appreciative peeps to see... abstract art to him... dunno-what-the-hell-is-abstract-art-is to me.... hahaha... one thing i can say though... my blog is very popular... district 10 property man... respect!!!

Respect this!!!! Oh yeah, its true, ITS true... i've finally passed my TP... HAHAHA... don't blame me for going nutters... i'm so excited i could hardly sleep. The dream is soon becoming a reality... oh yes it is... Today's test could hardly count as smooth sailing... Imagine, while i was going on my warm up round, my bike stalls suddenly and i have to push the bloody bike back to the starting point. Then, my achilles heel was badly exposed yet again when i fell off the bloody plank... tell you, damn kan cheong... this time confirm die... i thought to myself... Then thats not all, i queue up to try again for the warm up round, then when i tried to steer my bike through the bloody plank again, i fell off one more time... "wah lan, this time who i offend..." i said to myself... bad enough for a start huh... all my confidence shattered man... But lucky lah, i managed to compose myself for the actual test... inside the circuit everything do swee swee, outside on the road ah, very zai... but still leh i still scared, dunno why also... scared all the little mistakes accumulate then scarly fail again... wah liew, unthinkable man... Then ah, as all the testees gathered inside the room to wait for results, the atmosphere damn tense as the testers come in and call the number tags of people who failed... suddenly, i hear "seventy... FIFTH" wah cau i tell you, my heart nearly dropped, close shave, cos my number tag was 76... sweeaatt like hell... even more stressed than getting my 'A' levels results... hahaha... Finally, the moment of relief came when the tester announced that the people remaining in the room all passed... Wahhh, machiam like euro 2004, score goal like that... i also muttered a silent "YES!" under my breath lah combined with a clenched fist, friggin' happy... my grin has not disappeared from my face yet... 6 hours already... and right now, i find it quite difficult to drink the kiam chye soup my mum's boiled for dinner...
